The Indian government provides several scholarships to students for studying abroad, including:

  1. Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students: This scholarship is aimed at providing financial assistance to students from economically weaker sections who are pursuing higher education. The eligibility criteria for this scholarship include a minimum annual family income of less than INR 8 lakhs, securing at least 50% marks in the previous examination, and admission to a recognized college or university.|

  2. Merit-cum-Means Scholarship for Minority Students: This scholarship is intended for minority students, such as those from the Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, and Parsi communities, who are pursuing professional and technical courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The eligibility criteria for this scholarship include a minimum annual family income of less than INR 2.5 lakhs, securing at least 50% marks in the previous examination, and admission to a recognized college or university.

  3. National Overseas Scholarship for SC, ST, OBC Students: This scholarship is intended for students from the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) communities who are pursuing higher education abroad. The eligibility criteria for this scholarship include being a bonafide member of the SC, ST, or OBC community, having a minimum annual family income of less than INR 8 lakhs, and securing at least 50% marks in the previous examination.

  4. Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme for Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles: This scholarship is intended for the children of personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and the Assam Rifles who have died or were disabled in the line of duty. The scholarship provides financial assistance for pursuing higher education. The eligibility criteria for this scholarship include being the son/daughter of a deceased or disabled CAPF/Assam Rifles personnel, securing at least 50% marks in the previous examination, and admission to a recognized college or university.

  5. Study in India Program for ASEAN Countries and China: This scholarship program is aimed at promoting cultural exchange and educational cooperation between India and the countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and China. The scholarship provides financial assistance to students from these countries who wish to pursue higher education in India. The eligibility criteria for this scholarship include being a citizen of an ASEAN or Chinese country, securing admission to a recognized Indian college or university, and meeting the requirements set by the Ministry of Education.
